Why Paperbark Editing?

Paperbark Editing is a small business, meaning that you have the attention of a teacher and recent student dedicated to your hard work. Although you will have a PhD-level English lecturer reading your work, the rates at Paperbark Editing are competitive and worth your dollar.

Kelly started Paperbark Editing because her peers were paying for their theses to be copyedited but were still handing in work that was full of grammatical errors and typos. As someone who already spends her days working with students on their grammar and proofreading skills, Kelly is excited to be able to work from home and turn over big projects quickly.

Dr Kelly Palmer lectures and tutors at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. She specialises in creative and professional writing, media and communication, literary studies, and popular culture. Kelly has designed and delivered classes across the creative industries, including in poetry, dance, drama, film and advertising, and digital storytelling. She edits for academics at all career levels, from professors to postgrads, and is a web writer for many small businesses.

Teaching and grading work in universities means that Kelly knows what teachers value as high quality and polished work. She has experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds, including international students, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, mature-aged students, home-schooled students, and students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds. As well as on university campuses, she has run workshops for students and teachers in high schools, primary schools, libraries, and Brisbane Youth Detention Centre.

She is also a peer-reviewer for academic journals and has published both academic and creative work herself. Her copywriting and copyediting experience extends beyond the classroom and into her work on literary and academic journals, as well as editing web copy.

In addition to submitting her PhD in 2019, Kelly has a First Class Honours and a BFA in Creative and Professional Writing with Distinction.
